How do you define yourself as a man? How do you recover yourself from adversity?
“Here we are in a men's course. We want to build a strong man of you. Not so that you become “macho” not so that you become self-destructive; but so that you can
handle every challenge you face. Challenge is not something that destroys you; challenge is something that gives you an experience.” Yogi Bhajan
Man’s strength not only comes from his physical strength but also from his inner strength of self-belief and self-awareness. Man cannot get caught up in the external dramas of others. Man cannot allow the neurosis of other people to shake him from his center. Accept people and just allow them to be—shine your light and love on them like the Sun. You will see them shift and change before your very eyes, held within the power of your masculine presence. Don't underestimate the healing power of your presence.
Man must know without a doubt that he is the Sun. If the man is overly identified with the external he can easily lose his center, especially in stressful situations.
The power of the feminine tests the steadiness of the masculine. Remember that the feminine nature is the moon that waxes and wanes, forever changing. During these tests, if the man is not firmly rooted in his center, he can easily turn into the little boy; and the feminine turns into the mother.
Our job as men is not to be “manly” but rather to be human. The path to living as a hu-man being is the path of balance: balance of mind, body and spirit. It’s easy to be a fanatic and it’s easy to be lazy. What requires discipline is to live in balance. The signs of a man who lives in this manner are easy to see. He lives in joy. His behavior is kind and compassionate. He speaks his universal truth. He does not succumb to anyone. He does not want anything from anyone (except for others to be themselves.) He never compromises his values for benefits. He shares
whatever is given to him. He behaves in a manner that clearly shows that he knows at every moment that the other person is him.
